Antique American Clocks
French marble dog figural clock, ca. 1880.
A 21-inch tall by 17-inch wide statue clock on a
marble base with pink marble layered on top of white marble, vertical inserts in the steps and the clock housed in a marble box on
the left side.
I see no significant chips or cracks to the marble and it is clean and polished.
The two dogs are cast
bronze with a fine patina and little wear.
The screw holding the standing dog's front feet has come unattached.
decorated porcelain dial is unmarred and the hands appropriate; it sits behind a convex beveled glass.
The unsigned pendule
de Paris 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running but is badly out of plumb; the strike-side spring is either unattached or broken.
Well, you gotta like a dog clock, and this one has two (dogs).
