Antique American Clocks
G. Hettich Sohn fusee shelf cuckoo, ca. 1900.
A 21.5-inch-tall shelf cuckoo in walnut with
an old finish.
I don't see any missing trim, but there is a repair on the left side of the top piece and the dial is cracked
vertically.
I think both could be repaired.
The hands are celluloid.
The brass movement is signed GHS with a fusee
strike chain; information with the clock says it runs 8 days.
It is running, striking on a wire gong, and the bird is calling
on the hours and half-hours.
It's wings are articulated.
Nicely carved fusee shelf cuckoos like this are selling between
$1200-$1600.
