Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. "No. 13 Kildare", ca. 1904.
Made from Honduran mahogany and
reportedly given to Cornell University faculty (hence, the Cornell label on the upper dial).
Also notable is the beveled glass
in the door.
It holds a Gilbert-signed 8-day, half-hour strike movement that has had some repairs but is running and striking
as expected.
ICCC used Gilbert movements after Welch went out of business in 1893; Joel Warren suggests that there were enough
Welch movements to continue production with these movements through 1904 (Warren,
Ithaca's Clock Makers
, page 125).
The calendar
is advancing; the pendulum is the early style but holds a later glass insert, and the hands are nickel-plated but dark.
the extensive carving and detail on the 26.5-inch case, which would appear to have the original finish and is a bit thick.
is an instruction label on the back and an ICCC key.
