Antique American Clocks
Jannin Morbier, ca. 1880?
A Morbier clock with a brass repousse dial with painted flowers and a signed
porcelain dial.
There are numerous hairlines in the dial as well as chips; it is signed "Jannin, á Thizy" over a small floral
embellishment.
Thizy is a small town near Lyon, France; Jannin may be the retailer rather than the maker.
The gold hands
are likely replacements.
The metal case sits on a modern metal bracket with two 8-lb oblong weights that I think are replacements.
The pendulum is made from folding metal strips.
It is running and striking a large iron bell on top on the hours and half-hours.
