Antique American Clocks
Chauncey Jerome remote spring steeple, 1844-1850.
A 22.5-inch sharp gothic case in mahogany
veneer with the original dial glass and a period mirror.
The flat dial has been varnished; the hands are original/period.
The signed, 8-day time-and-strike movement has remotely mounted springs but is not a fusee.
The label advertises "with steel
mainsprings".
The wire gong is a replacement and not fitted correctly.
The New Haven address on the label puts its manufacture
in the late 1840's.
