Antique American Clocks
Viennese Dachluhr-style regulator, 1912-1922.
This is a beautiful Vienna made in
the twentieth century by Jos. Mühlhauser, Wiener Uhrenindustrie GmbH. In Vienna.
The 41-inch case is made from a wood I can't
identify, with intricately inlayed darker wood around the dial.
There is an upper door and a lower door with wavy glass is each
and two sidelights.
The backboard is also made of this remarkably grained wood.
The dial is milk-glass, the numbering
in paint with some loss.
There is a hairline crack from the left winding port to the number 8.
The 8-day, time-and-strike
movement is signed Wiener Uhrenindustrie GmbH with a serial number of 655 on the movement and mounting bracket.
It is running
and striking on the hours and half-hours, driven by two rather worn and dented weights, probably not original to this clock.
Nonetheless, it is a beautiful clock.
This is a rare maker and I cannot find another example that has sold.
