The NHCC made two weight-driven shelf clocks, the Ganges
and the Indus, and claimed that they were the smallest weight clocks made, probably true at the time of manufacture; they are both
one-day clocks.
This Ganges is 23.5 inches tall, in walnut with a good finish.
The polychrome door glass is original and
in good shape; the dial has a paper replacement and the dial board is broken and missing a center section.
Fortunately, the
loss is not apparent when the door is closed.
The pendulum is New Haven issue, but a round bob is shown in the catalog illustration.
The 1-day, time-and-strike movement is not signed, and has been repaired; it is running and striking on a nickel bell, driven by two
correct weights.
There is also an alarm, untested.
Decent label on the back.
These are not common clocks; Horton's
last sold one in 2016 for $250, and there are no more-recent sales on LiveAuctioneers.
