Owen, the general manager at the Gilbert Clock Co., ran
his own clockmaking business for a short while and produced high quality clocks, often with novel designs and innovations.
model was listed in his 1878 catalog.
The walnut case is 24 inches tall with a cut-glass door decoration, a feature of Owen
The finial on top is a substitution, not quite to specs; the paper dial is very dark and yellowed but may be original.
The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed, running, and striking on the hours with a typical single barrel pendulum.
