A classic and highly desirable Seth Thomas shelf clock
that strikes the quarter-hours on two nested nickel bells and counts the hours on a cathedral gong.
The 22.5-inch walnut case
has an old and possibly original finish with a great patina.
The door glass is old/original; the dial old paint with the ST
logo and just a bit of chipping, the hands correct.
The movement is signed, has three winding ports (strike, chime, and time),
and is running and striking as expected, regulated by a damascened nickel pendulum.
There is a darkened label on the inside
bottom, no date on the back.
This is about as nice an example as you will find.
Horton's sold a similar example in July
2019 for $1075.
