Antique American Clocks
Smith & Goodrich steeple fusee, 1847-1852.
A 20-inch sharp gothic with a very dark and
possibly original finish on mahogany or rosewood veneer.
The left cone finial's tip is missing.
Both glasses are period
if not original, the lower retaining a very nice tablet painting.
The metal dial likely has the original paint, with some noticeable
losses; the hour hand is correct, the minute hand an improper replacement.
The 30-hour time-and-strike fusee movement is unsigned;
it is running and striking enthusiastically.
A good label inside.
