Antique American Clocks
John Taber (attr.) tall shelf/mirror clock, 1818-1825.  I was fortunate to have a Taber
clock in the January 2021 auction and now I am again fortunate to have a second Taber to offer here.
Taber worked out of southern
Maine; he used iron plate movements with brass gears, as found here.   The front of the 38-inch case is veneered in mahogany
with two free-standing square columns on each side; the sides of the case appear to be walnut.  There are some chips and
repairs to the mahogany veneer; the scroll top with three wooden finials differs somewhat from the one sold in January.
interior is painted a distinctive green color with a wooden dial painted in a characteristic pattern with hand-crafted hands.  The
dial glass is old but replaced, and the mirror is quite old.  There is an early iron weight; the clock is running.

AAC sold a very
similar example
for $3975.  $2500-$4500.
