Description

Ansonia Clock Co. “Euclid with Figure No. 1042” ca. 1886. This model is shown in Ly’s book on Ansonia clocks on page 274. The enameled iron case is 16 inches tall with the cast figure head; the case has probably been repainted and the incised gilding restored. The two-part signed porcelain dial shows fading to some numerals, cracks, and losses, but these are not severe; it sits behind a thick beveled glass in a gilded sash. The visible escapement has steel pallets. The signed 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is running and striking on a cathedral gong. No sales records for this model on LiveAuctioneers or the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide. $150–$250.
