Description

Ansonia Clock Co. “Gallery No. 1”, ca. 1914. A 24-inch oak case with an old finish. The dial glass is old as well; the 18-inch dial is very old paper with some losses and scratches. The hands are as shown in the catalog illustration (Ly, Ansonia Clocks & Watches, page 202). The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is a replacement made in Japan, I believe, manufactured by the MNJ Clock Co. as stamped on the movement. It is running and striking on the wire gong on the hours. No label to be found. The door and glass swings open from the bottom to provide access to the pendulum. No recent sales of this model on LiveAuctioneers. $200–$400.
