New Haven Clock Co. round gothic, ca. 1870. An 18.5-inch round gothic (beehive) with good rosewood veneer and two old glasses. The finish is clean and polished; the dial glass has newer putty, with an interesting tablet – the banner the eagle is holding says “Love one another” over an angel? Harp. Perhaps a post-Civil War tablet? The round metal dial holds the original paint in good condition with period hands. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is unsigned, running and striking on a wire gong. There is a good label inside. $75–$150.
