Description

Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Denton”, ca. 1913. Although this looks like a marine clock, it is not, as is it pendulum-regulated. This clock originally sold with two matching metal candlesticks (see Ly, Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 2, page 597). It is just under 9 inches tall with a 5.5-inch dial. The case is brass with a copper pedestal; the silvered dial is convex with raised bronze numerals, serpentine hands, and is behind a convex beveled glass. The round 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and running, striking on a small cathedral gong. It has a cylinder-style pendulum. A clock I have not seen before. Fontaine’s sold one in 2020 for $175. $100–$200.
