Description
Terry & Andrews gothic iron case, 1842-1850. A 15.5-inch cast iron case decorated with extensive mother of pearl (MOP) along with painted flowers and gilding. The MOP shows little-to-no losses and the paint is still colorful; note the broken off piece of the case on the bottom right. Newer glasses top and bottom, and the bottom bezel looks to be a replacement. The painted metal dial has losses around the mainstem along with fading and wear; the hands are period, but the minute hand is probably a replacement. The movement is signed, runs 8 days, time-and-strike on a wire gong; it is running strongly and striking. There is a very dark green label inside. A nice example for the decorations. $125-$250.
